42.4MP of ultimate image quality
The RX1R II utilizes a 42.4MP back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor paired with a powerful BIONZ X processing engine to achieve superior levels of image resolution and sensitivity (up to 102,4003) with a wide dynamic range. The sensor’s back-illuminated structure enables approximately 3.5x faster transmission speed and outputs data than the original RX1R. The addition of user selectable uncompressed 14-bit RAW and the world’s first optical variable low pass filter maximize the benefits of the image sensor’s full potential – resulting in the ultimate image quality.
35 mm F2.0 ZEISS Sonnar T* lens with macro capability
The fixed lens design allows the lens to be precisely aligned at the micron level to the focal plane of the full-frame sensor. The ZEISS Sonnar T 35mm F2 fixed focal length lens ensures exceptional image quality offering remarkable brightness and impressively sharp images from the center to the corners. The lens also has a unique Macro shift ring for focusing on subjects as close as 5.5 inch in front of the lens and has nine aperture blades that produce beautiful background bokeh. RX1R II utilizes an in-lens leaf shutter, allowing 1/2000 sec flash synch speed and a significant reduction in overall body size.
World’s first1 user-selectable optical variable low-pass fil
The RX1R II features the world’s first1 optical variable low pass filter that allows photographers to achieve the desired image quality and resolution based on the presence of moiré-inducing high spatial frequency objects in the scene, essentially combining two cameras – one with and without a low-pass filter – into one body. Three settings are available; including 'off', which provides comparable effects to having no low-pass filter and is suitable when prioritizing resolution, 'standard', which strikes a balance between resolution and removal of moire and color artifacts, and 'high', which places more emphasis on reducing moire and artifacting. Low-pass filter bracketing is also available and can be used to compare the effects of different settings
Fast Hybrid AF with 399 focal plane phase-detection AF point
The world’s highest number of focal plane phase-detection AF points, at 399, and the widest coverage, of 45% of the image area. With its accelerated readout and an advanced algorithm to anticipate subject movement, the sensor also makes it possible for the Fast Hybrid AF system with additional 25-point contrast-detection AF points to raise speed, accuracy, and tracking performance to incredible heights, even when shooting at up to 5fps at 42.4MP.
Retractable 2.4-million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF
The retractable XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder pops up to reveal every detail in every scene with eye-level accuracy. The new four-lens optical system with double-sided aspherical elements provides views of cutting-edge clarity and contrast throughout the entire width and length of the display. ZEISS T coating ensures absolutely minimal surface reflection.
3” LCD screen tilts up and down for easy high and low-angle
The tiltable 3 inch (1,229k dots) Xtra Fine LCD Display makes it easy to photograph over crowds, or objects close to the ground or maybe you just want to get a different perspective. The screen can swivel up approx. 109 degree and down approximately 41 degree.
Compressed or uncompressed 14-bit RAW still
The RX1R II offers the option of user selectable compressed or uncompressed 14-bit RAW still image. Uncompressed 14-bit RAW maximizes the benefit of the image sensor's wide dynamic range, delivering the smoothest, richest color quality and tonal gradation while compressed RAW offers more convenient file sizes.
Connectivity to smartphones via Wi-Fi/NFC
Built-in Wi-Fi enables easy connection to a compatible iOS or Android smartphone or tablet with the free PlayMemories Mobile App. From there you can control your camera, preview and frame using your mobile device and trigger the camera shutter or movie button. Then instantly transfer a photo or MP4 movie to your device.
NFC (Near Field Communication) provides 'one-touch connection' convenience to Android smartphones and tablets with NFC. Simply touch devices to connect.
